Cameron returns to UK talking tough on Europe
DAVID Cameron warned the Eurozone nations they must “sort themselves out” before any international aid is given, while negotiations between Greece’s political parties continued in an effort to form a new unity government.
The Prime Minister addressed the House of Commons, telling MPs that the UK was prepared, “in principle” to give more to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following discussions at the G20 in Cannes.
However he also warned that “specific commitments” were not made because the Eurozone must do its best to combat the debt crisis before it receives cash from outside.
The Prime Minister reiterated chancellor George Osborne’s stance that a resolution to the Eurozone crisis would be “the single biggest boost to the British economy this autumn”.
“The Eurozone must now do what is necessary and see through the agreement it reached in Brussels ten days ago,” he added.
