BILL OF THE WEEK
CHAMBERLAIN’S in Leadenhall Market was the venue of choice for four insurance employees who “know their stuff food-wise”. By the size of the bill, it was clear the group were from the broking fraternity rather than the “more conservative” underwriting clan, commented a Chamberlain’s mole, who supplied the gourmand group with a complimentary amuse bouche of Lobster Bisque. “A little more liquid consumption to add to what was already a fairly liquid lunch,” as the restaurant source put it. With two gin and tonics, a Bloody Mary and a Kir Royale followed by – deep breath – lashings of rose, white wine, red wine, pudding wine and then cognac, the Chamberlain’s source was possibly understating the point.
