BILL OF THE WEEK
MAYFAIR Japanese restaurant Sumosan was the dinner venue of choice for this group on Thursday evening last week.
Amazingly for a £1298.12 bill, most of this ticket was racked up by food and not drink – after four bottles of Insoglio wine and a number of cocktails, our diners forgot about the alcohol and concentrated on their stomachs instead.
Sushi rolls, sashimi and salmon pizza was followed by a hoard of mains to share, including black cod, foie gras, lobster, sea bass and dover sole.
With that little lot contributing to their (presumably rapidly expanding) waistlines, it looks like there are at least some hardened hedonists out there who remain unwilling to subject themselves to any inconvenient New Year pledges of austerity. Hurrah.
