BILL OF THE WEEK
WHEN ten City boys ventured all the way to Knightsbridge to chew the fat, so to speak, at the Brompton Bar & Grill, they needed to make sure they had adequate sustenance to make the arduous journey back again. Settling in for a long lunch in the bistro’s private dining room they whetted their appetites with champagne cocktails and mojitos, washed down with oysters, then moved on to starters of snails and crab claws. Mains were grouse, turbot and hefty Porterhouse steaks, accompanied by six bottles of fine wine – a 1999 Leoville Barton and 2009 Givry ler Cru. Finishing their meal off with a mixture of crème brulee, raspberry jelly, sticky toffee pudding and a round of Armagnacs, they left at 5.30pm – £1,610 lighter and possibly spared the long trek back to the office.
