Apple and Samsung bosses begin settlement discussions
THE CHIEF executives of Apple and Samsung will today meet in a judge-supervised setting in an attempt to settle a legal dispute over patents.
A jury trial is scheduled for July to assess Apple’s claims that Samsung has infringed copyright in the design of its smartphones and tablets.
Samsung was served with a 373-page complaint from Apple last April, to which it replied with its own list of allegations.
But before the trial goes ahead, a judge has ordered Samsung’s Gee-Sung Choi and Apple’s Tim Cook to try to settle the issue out of court.
The tech giants control more than half the smartphone market.
