UK’s “app economy” boosts demand for web designers and programmers
Demand for web designers and programmers is rising rapidly as firms invest in the UK’s “app economy”.
The number of web design and programming jobs in the IT sector rose by 11 per cent – or by 7,000 jobs – in the year to June, according to figures released today by accountants NoPalaver.
The UK app industry, centred on London’s Silicon Roundabout at Old Street, has grown rapidly in the past three years, with many startups becoming global players. These include Candy Crush makers King Digital. Further investment in online presence is being seen among smaller firms as well as larger ones.
“The importance of the ‘app economy’ is being fully realised by increasing numbers of businesses eager to recruit the very best IT professionals to ensure they benefit from the app revolution,” said Graham Jenner, director at NoPalaver.
