Any Other Business – 30/01
EX-ENGLAND and Newcastle footballer Rob Lee is used to a challenge, but the retired sports star has taken on an altogether different one since November 2013, he wants to put the City through its paces and give busy finance professionals a chance to get fit using Speedflex. What the bejeezus is Speedflex I hear you ask? Well, it’s a 45 minute session workout using jazzy high tech machinery, which suits any fitness level and apparently doesn’t leave you feeling sore the next day. Sounds good to us.
“We wanted to set up in this area because of the clientele,” Lee told The Capitalist. “I have lots of friends who work in the City and I’ve seen how much they eat out and drink – while they don’t want to give up their lifestyles, they want a way to keep fit – this solution is good for everyone.”
It seems the concept has been a big hit with local City firms and Lee has thrown down the gauntlet by setting up the Lombard Street Corporate Challenge. Firms can enter teams of up to seven and the team which burns the most calories can win some prizes (but mostly props). And The Capitalist has seen the score board. Insurance firm EPG is in front, Allied World Assurance in second and UBS in third (Barclays is loitering in 8th and Lloyds 11th). We’re rallying Team City AM as we speak.
