Everton owners The Friedkin Group put Merseyside club up for sale
The owners of Everton have put the club up for sale just two years after buying into the Premier League team.
The Friedkin Group purchased the Merseyside club in 2024 at a valuation of £400m.
Now, they say, they are “exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest”.
The club owners would be looking to make the most of the recent valuation boost for Premier League clubs which occurred when a consortium involving Jeff Bezos purchased a significant majority stake in city rivals Liverpool at a valuation of £4.6bn.
“When TFG became custodians of Everton,” a statement read, “the Club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch. The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the Club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its deserving supporters.
“With that foundation now safely in place, the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton. We will only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the Club forward and build on the momentum that has been established.”

The firm has appointed financial firm Moelis & Company to run the process, which could see a new minority or majority investment in a club that sits seventh in the Premier League table.
The Friedkin Group, who also own Serie A club Roma, inherited the majority of a completed Hill Dickinson Stadium, which holds 52,888 and has also been used for both codes of rugby since opening on the banks of the Mersey.
With Crystal Palace floating a price of £900m, Everton will likely be seeking more than that valuation given the stadium and facilities involved.
“Throughout this process, TFG’s focus will remain unchanged,” the club’s owners added. We will support the Club in all ways necessary to achieve success on the pitch and will continue efforts to make a positive difference in the communities the Club serves.”
