The 4 big things tech firms are set to unveil at Mobile World Congress
Mobile World Congress (MWC) is one of the biggest event in the telecoms calendar. Starting on the 23 February this year and lasting all week, it has become the place to launch new mobile products.
Samsung
Samsung is widely expected to reveal its Galaxy S5 at its aptly named Unpacked 5 event on Monday 24 February at 7.00pm.
Beyond that the tech giant could unveil a new line of Tizen devices, smartphones built on the Tizen operating system that is partially owned by Samsung, rather than Google’s Android.
Nokia
Nokia finds itself in an interesting place during MWC this year, with the Microsoft buyout of its devices and services division not quite complete.
Nokia Normandy, the long-rumoured Android smartphone, is unlikely to make an appearance – if Microsoft has anything to say about it – but the rumoured Nokia Lumia 2020 tablet could stand a better chance of making an appearance at Nokia’s event on Monday 24 February at 7.30am.
Huawei
Huawei has promised two new innovative products during MWC at its event on Sunday 23 February at 2.00pm, one is likely a new smartphone – possibly an update to last year’s P6, the then thinnest smartphone in the world – and the other could be Huawei’s rumoured smartwatch.
Motorola
Motorola, having been just acquired by Lenovo from Google, is unlikely to announce any new hardware at its event on Tuesday 25 February at 7pm (gmt).
There have been rumours of a Motorola smartwatch, however the event is more likely to center on the phone maker’s new owners and strategy going forward.
