3 unveils iPad price plan as competition hots up
AS Apple’s smash hit iPad prepares to launch in the UK this Friday, mobile carrier 3 announced details of its competitive Sim only price plan for the device.
The contract-free offer allows users to connect to use internet on the go from just £7.50 a month, for 1GB of data usage. It also has a deal for £15 which allows users to use up to 10GB.
The offer compares favourably to rivals Vodafone, O2 and Orange, which all offer dedicated price plans for the device.
Meanwhile Dell hopes its new Streak tablet computer, which can double as a mobile phone and will have a front-facing camera for videoconferencing, will help it compete with the iPad.
The five-inch tablet will debut in Britain next month through mobile carrier O2 and Carphone Warehouse. Dell has yet to announce pricing for the Streak, which it said will appear in the US this summer.
Dell will be the first firm to take on the iPad with a device that runs on Google’s Android operating system.
