Commuters walking over a decidedly rain-soaked London Bridge had their morning brightened up after it was transformed into a glorious rainbow of colours.

The "rainbow brick road", which spans the full 300 metres of London Bridge, was created by BBC Radio 1 presenter Gemma Cairney on behalf of Spark Your City, which bills itself as a "global movement dedicated to spark joy in everyday city life".

Cairney said she crossed the bridge to work every day, and decided she wanted to bring a "smile to the faces of the 150,000 people who [also] cross it every day" with a "dramatic, colour-popping piece of land art".

And commuters seemed appreciative...
