Back winless Villa to go to the dogs again

PAUL Lambert’s assertion that Christian Benteke could need “six or seven games” to find his best form won’t go down well with Aston Villa fans.

Having endured more than eight hours of football without seeing their team score, the Holt End is redefining the phrase ‘long-suffering.’

Along the way Villa have become the ninth side to lose five successive Premier League games without finding the net.

If ever a team needed their talisman to hit the ground running after an injury lay-off it is Villa.

Lambert has also said his men will come out of the traps quickly in Sunday’s game against Tottenham. But I wouldn’t bet on them catching the hare any time soon.

Instead, I’ll stick with the status quo and sell total goals at 2.55 with Sporting Index.

Spurs haven’t exactly been flying of late either, recording just one league win since the end of August.

Mauricio Pochettino recently added ‘size of pitch’ to an inglorious list of lame managerial excuses.

But the fact remains only Stoke have scored fewer goals than them of anyone in the top 12.

Those preferring a no goalscorer bet can get 9/1 with in what has the makings of a match best watched in a highlights package, using the fast forward button.

Tottenham have won their last five games against Villa to nil, racking up 15 goals in the process. Expect that to change.
