Tykes close to county glory
SKIPPER Andrew Gale will miss the final two games of the season for champions-elect Yorkshire after an altercation with Lancashire batsman Ashwell Prince during this week’s Roses match at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old, who was also punished for dissent in the reverse fixture in May, was reported by the match umpires for “using language or gesture that is obscene or of a serious insulting nature.”
Gale will now miss the club’s County Championship Division One clashes with second-placed Nottinghamshire and Somerset.
Yorkshire are currently 26 points clear at the top of table after brushing aside relegation-threatened Lancashire by an innings an 18 runs, with opener Adam Lyth notching 251 in their second innings.
