Woman leaves her house to donate old clothes to charity, comes back with a £800,000 house
Impulsive Christmas purchases took a rather excessive turn this week, after a well-heeled woman ventured out into the cold to donate a couple of old coats to charity and came back with the deed to a house in South Ken.
The un-named buyer visited Chestertons, in Kensington High Street, to drop off some old winterwear with the estate agents as part of its charity winter coat drive. The woman, who already lives in Kensington, got chatting to one of the agents about the sales market. She mentioned that she was looking for investment opportunities and the agent saw an opportunity and ran with it. She booked a viewing for Saturday and by the afternoon she had offered to buy the property as an investment for her son. What a thoughtful Christmas present!
Still, we’ve all been there when it comes to impulse buying. At City A.M.’s Awards last month, Bernstein’s party animals splashed out on a bottle of Dom Perignon for the sole purpose of pouring it over newly-crowned Analyst of the Year, Bruno Monteyne.
Ex-Man City and Liverpool oddball Mario Balotelli would have done the same. The footballer was sent to John Lewis by his mother in 2011 to purchase an iron and some cleaning products. He didn’t manage to get anything on the list, but he did pick up a few other essentials including a trampoline, table tennis table and two Vespas.
