Weiss withdraws Treasury job bid
WALL street banker Antonio Weiss has withdrawn his nomination for a senior US Treasury role.
Weiss, global head of investment banking at Lazard, had been running for the position of Treasury undersecretary for domestic finance. However, he faced criticism from Democrats due to his connections with the financial industry.
Weiss will instead become counselor to Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, a position that does not require senate confirmation.
