Warwick business students give London learners a run for their money at SWIFT’s Institute Challenge
Seven teams of university students have been selected to compete for £15,000 at SWIFT's Institute Challenge, but London could be given a run for their money by rivals from Warwick.
The challenge was open to any UK university with an interest in banking. Each student team is required to find a solution that would let a bank’s customer send money abroad, via their own bank, to someone in a country where there is little or no banking infrastructure.
Three London teams,"Apollonia" from King’s College, "Neo" from Queen Mary University and "Mobile Money" from the London School of Economics and Political Science, will battle it out against four teams from Warwick Business School in a bid to win the prize sum equal to two years worth of student loans.
The finalists will join SWIFT’s Business Forum event later this month, and give a 10-minute pitch to a panel of judges from the financial services industry before City Minister Harriett Baldwin announces the winner of the lump sum.
The Capitalist wonders if we'll see an surge of Warwick grads in Canary Wharf next year.
