Waitrose sees sales rise
Waitrose sales rose by nine per cent in the third quarter as the mild weather fuelled sales of unseasonal products including salad and ice cream. The retailer – which does not issue quarterly profit figures – said sales for the three months to the end of October
had been buoyant. On a like-for-like basis its total branch sales (excluding petrol) were up by 4.4 per cent, with growth accelerating last month, the company said. Over the last week ice cream sales were up by 16.8 per cent. Waitrose’s share of the UK grocery market increased by 0.2 per cent compared to a year ago, according to Kantar.
