Vodafone is buoyed by South African results
VODAFONE received a welcome boost ahead of its full-year results when its South African wing announced a big leap in earnings.
Vodacom reported a 22 per cent earnings spike and said it would increase its dividend payouts.
Vodafone is expected to announce strong results tomorrow off the back of growing smartphone sales, especially after it was able to start selling Apple’s iPhone in January.
It is also hoping to cash in on Apple-mania when it offers 3G network coverage for the iPad, starting later this month.
Yesterday, just weeks after unveiling its original iPad data price plans, the firm altered them to be more competitive with rivals O2 and Orange.
It is understood smartphones will contribute to a spike in revenue of around seven per cent.
This would bring the full-year revenue for the telecoms giant to around £44bn.
