Vindicated Benitez aims ‘Barca’ jibe at Allardyce
LIVERPOOL boss stoked his feud with Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce after seeing his side win a feisty clash at Anfield and keep up the chase for a Champions League spot.
Keith Andrews drew Rovers level from the penalty spot after Reds captain Steven Gerrard had put the home side in front. But fit-again Fernando Torres marked his first start in almost two months with the winning goal, sliding home from close range to keep Liverpool one point off fourth place in the Premier League.
A physical encounter saw Gerrard and former team-mate El-Hadji Diouf square up, and Benitez toasted his three points with a barb at Allardyce.
“I think it’s a model for all managers around the world, their style of football, his behaviour,” said Benitez. “The style of football, I think Barcelona are thinking of copying.”
