UK’s growth to lag behind peers
The global recovery is set to continue, but countries such as the UK will lag behind with sluggish growth, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said yesterday. Along with France the UK will only experience “stable, slow pace of expansion” despite a rosier outlook in countries such as Canada, China, the US and Germany. The results are based on the OECD’s composite leading indicators which attempt to predict turns in economic performance six months in advance. In a separate statement, the OECD said that Italy should embrace greater liberalisation and deficit reduction in order to make its economy more robust in the future.
