Ticketmaster suffers deja vu as Glasgow 2014 sales suspended
TICKETMASTER was at the centre of another row over ticketing for a major sporting event last night after Commonwealth Games chiefs were forced to suspend online and telephone sales indefinitely.
Organisers said the company, whose services for the London 2012 Olympics were also suspended temporarily, experienced technical problems after 100,000 extra tickets went on sale on Monday.
Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said they were “very sorry” about the suspension, which took effect from 6pm following a number of complaints.
He added: “We stated this morning that we completely recognise that this is not satisfactory and is something we’ve taken very seriously. We have instructed Ticketmaster to close the website until we can be assured that technical issues experienced by some customers are resolved.”
