Tesco to start charging £2 for click and collect deliveries under £30 from February
Tesco is to start charging for click-and-collect deliveries under £30, as the business looks to bolster its bottom line.
The £2 charge, which will apply to deliveries under £30, will come into force from 2 February, according to an email sent to customers today.
Tesco said in a statement the move was designed to ensure its click-and-collect service "remains sustainable for the future".
"We want to provide customers with a great online experience and continue to offer customers the convenience of our click-collect service at every Tesco store across the UK," it added.
The supermarket is just one of a growing number of retailers who has introduced a charge for the online service.
Last summer John Lewis announced it would start charging the same cost for the same value of goods, with managing director Andy Street saying it was "unsustainable" to continue operating the service for free.
