Suitors form a queue for Cole
EIGHT clubs are believed to have expressed an interest in signing former England left-back Ashley Cole, after he confirmed his eightyear stay at Stamford Bridge is set to end this summer.
The 33-year-old retired from international football last week after being left out of England’s World Cup squad and on Monday night revealed on his personal Twitter account: “I am weighing up my options for next season with my agent and sadly it does not look like Chelsea will be one of them”.
Cole, who won Premier League titles with Arsenal and Chelsea, is not short on suitors with Monaco, who yesterday dismissed manager Claudio Ranieri, thought to be his most likely destination.
Liverpool’s 21-year-old defender Jon Flanagan deputised at left-back for much of the season, but is right-footed, while Manchester City and Manchester United are also likely to be in the market for an established player in his position this summer.
