So wrong it’s right: The Double Donut Burger with streaky bacon hits Hungry Horse menu
Britain's culinary tastes may be beginning to mirror those of their colonial cousins in America, if the latest offering from pub chain Hungry Horse is anything to go by.
Diners at the chain, owned by brewer Greene King, can now indulge their meat cravings and sweet tooth all in one go with Double Donut Burger.
Weighing in at 53g of saturated fat and 8.2g of salt, the tower of meat and dough consists of two beef patties with melted cheese, four pieces of smoked streaky rashers lavished in BBQ sauce sandwiched between two grilled glazed donuts.
The burger comes to a hefty 2,000 calories and is marketed with the seductive tagline "so wrong it's right".
Hungry Horse commented on the new offering, saying:
Our popular menu caters for a variety of tastes and appetites and includes everything from lower calorie options such as our hot chicken and bacon salad at 393 calories, through to the indulgent occasional treat such as our new Double Donut Burger.
All the nutritional information for our menu is available on our website and in our pubs, so that our customers are able to make informed decisions about what they choose to eat.

However, public health experts are none too pleased with Hungry Horse's decision. Mel Wakeman, senior lecturer in Applied Physiology at Birmingham City University, told the BBC:
To me, this is simply ludicrous and irresponsible. I am no killjoy but why is this sort of food available?
Guess that one's up to its customers to decide…
