Should the Tories cut tax on jobs?
THE Conservatives have now promised to reverse part of Labour’s rise in National Insurance. The Conservatives have said it was a “tax on jobs” and that under the move anyone earning up to £45,500 will now be better off; but the move will cost around £6bn a year and critics have said it goes against their priority of cutting the deficit. In your opinion were they: –
1) Right to do this as they did
2) Right to do this, but they should have gone further by scrapping the tax rise entirely
3) Wrong to do this – they should have kept Labour’s planned increase as it was
4) Wrong to do this – they should have promised to increase national insurance more than Labour would to contribute to cutting the deficit
5) Don’t know
