Redknapp far from sure on Beckham loan transfer
EVERTON 2 vs TOTTENHAM 1
TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp claimed his hopes of signing David Beckham are now in the hands of others after seeing his side blow a chance to cement their top four place.
The possibility of a deal now hinges on whether conditions likely to be imposed by the Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy can be met.
Redknapp said: “It is definitely not done – one million per cent not. I don’t know what has happened.
“I have left it to the chairman to deal with. I think we could do with his know-how, I think he has something to offer but it is out of my hands. It is up to others now whether there is a deal to be done.”
Whether Beckham will arrive in time to help mount a Spurs title challenge after last night’s defeat now looks unlikely.
Seamus Coleman grabbed the decisive goal 15 minutes from time after the outstanding Rafael van der Vaart cancelled out Louis Saha’s opener.
Redknapp also has a worry over star player Gareth Bale who picked up a back injury.
He said: “I should have taken him off at half-time. His back went into a spasm and he didn’t feel good.”
