Costa del Court: City law firm follows wealthy Brits to Mallorca
London-based family law firm AFP Bloom has opened an office in Mallorca to serve the growing number of British families relocating to the Spanish island.
The law firm, known for its work with high-net-worth and international families, has opened a new Palma office, allowing clients to receive specialist English legal advice in-person on the island rather than coordinating remotely with lawyers back in the UK.
Several famous British singers and business tycoons live or own property in Mallorca, including James Blunt, Sir Richard Branson, and the Reuben Brothers. British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe also has a private residence and anchors his luxury superyacht off its coast.
After the UK abolished its non-dom tax regime last April, Spain’s Beckham Law promised British expats a low flat tax rate.
The law firm said it will advise on English divorces involving one or both spouses based in Mallorca, international assets, businesses and trusts, pre- and post-nuptial agreements for international couples, as well as relocation to and from the island.
“We’ve spent years advising international families — coordinating with lawyers in France, Spain and further afield for clients whose lives already span more than one country. Expanding into Mallorca is a natural next step for us,” said William Healing, a partner at AFP Bloom.
“There’s a real and growing need for genuine English expertise, based on the ground, and that’s exactly the gap we’re placed to fill.”

That creates a clear need for the kind of specialist advice we already provide.”
Earlier this year, UK divorce law firm Vardags opened an office in Milan to target wealthy expats leaving Britain.
