Record level of French state debt
The French government’s debt reached a record high of 84.5 per cent of GDP in the first three months of the year, official data revealed yesterday. The proportion of debt was up from 82.3 per cent at the end of 2010. Meanwhile, French household consumption decreased by 0.8 per cent in May compared to the previous month, after a 1.4 per cent dip in April.
