Private firms step in to create jobs
JOB creation in the private sector is starting to pick up, according to a respected report.
The survey, conducted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and KPMG, lends support to prime minister David Cameron’s claim that private firms will provide jobs as cuts in the public sector take hold.
Manufacturing and private sector services will provide the most jobs over the first quarter of 2011, according to the survey of 750 employers.
However, redundancies look set to rise sharply. Public policy adviser at the CIPD Gerwyn Davies said: “Encouragingly, the private sector continues to generate new jobs, but we are some way off the jobs boom that we are all hoping for.
