Prior shows his mettle to lead England to victory
HALF-CENTURIES from captain Alastair Cook and Matt Prior helped England to a second warm-up victory over a Bangladesh Cricket Board XI in Fatullah.
Opener Cook retired on 52, while Prior, who left wicketkeeping duties to new sensation Craig Kieswetter, added a fine 64no off 57 balls as the tourists cruised to a seven-wicket success.
But there was another failure for key batsman Kevin Pietersen, who followed up his unfortunate first-ball dismissal in the first game on Tuesday.
The Hampshire batsman was prompted to open with Cook but made just six before being caught at slip. Eoin Morgan soon followed for just nine.
Recalled seamers Ryan Sidebottom and Tim Bresnan took two wickets apiece, along with spinner James Tredwell, as England reduced the hosts to 151-8 from their 37 overs.
Kieswetter, who struck a magnificent 143 on his senior debut in Mirpur on Tuesday, was given a rest with the bat as England cruised to their victory target with 7.4 overs left of the rain-shortened match.
England take on Bangladesh for the first of three one-day internationals in Mirpur on Sunday.
