Portmeirion in sales surge
Pottery group Portmeirion said yesterday that sales for the first four months of the year are 40 per cent up on the same period in 2009. The company said the rise had been fuelled by sales of Spode and Royal Worcester. Those acquisitions – due to their timing – did not generate any revenue in the comparable period last year. Chairman Dick Steele said: “Despite the uncertain economic environment, we remain positive on the outlook for the remainder of 2010. We are a bright spot in the nabufacturing world.”
The company exports 70 per cent of its products with ths US and Korea two of the biggest markets.
