Paris Police fire shots at car which crashed through Tour de France barrier in Place de la Concorde
Police in Paris have fired shots at a car which tried to crash through a barrier on the final stage of the Tour de France route in the French capital.
The car tried to crash through security barriers being set up for the Tour de France final, which will pass through the city later today.
After police fired shots in the Place de la Concorde close to the Champs Elysees the vehicle drove off. The incident happened at around 8am local time on Sunday and police are now hunting for the driver of the vehicle.
The race director Thierry Gouvenou told Associated Press he did not forsee any impact on today's race finale.
Cyclist Chris Froome is on track to claim glory in the grueling competition, sealing his second win, and marking the first time a British rider has won the Tour de France twice.
The riders are due to arrive in the capital at around 5.30pm local time and cross the finish line at around 7pm surrounded by thousands of spectators.
