New Korea central bank head
The Bank of Korea will have a former insider back as the new governor in April, as ex deputy chief Lee Ju-yeol comes back to the institution from an academic post. Lee left the bank in 2012 after a career spanning nearly three and a half decades, and has worked since at Yonsei University. Governor Kim Chong-soo has been at the helm since 2010. Lee will aim to restore the central bank’s independence from the government, tarnished over the past few years.
