More calls for fuel duty cuts
THE government is facing growing pressure to cut fuel duty in the Budget as petrol and diesel prices hit record highs last week.
Campaign group FairFuelUK, which is holding a mass lobby of MPs on Wednesday, has called for a cut in fuel duty rather than the planned 3p increase in August. It said cutting the duty by 2.5p would create an extra 180,000 jobs.
And the AA called on chancellor George Osborne to protect the economy from fuel market volatility.
The government scrapped a fuel duty rise planned for January.
