Trevor Hemmings becomes joint-most successful owner in Grand National history as Many Clouds wins
AP McCoy missed out on a fairytale goodbye to the Grand National today as he competed in the race for a record 20th time, but another small slice of racing history was made when 25-1 bet Many Clouds sealed the victory.
The triumphant horse's owner, Trevor Hemmings, has now had three Grand National winners making him the race's joint most-successful owner with James Machell and Noel Le Mare.
Hemmings, who also owns Preston North End football club, is the most prolific winner this century, while Machell and Le Mare won their races in the 19th and 20th century respectively. Many Clouds joins Ballabriggs (2011) and Hedgehunter (2005) as previous winners owned by Hemmings.

Bookies avoided a mammoth pay out on bets on McCoy's Shuthefrontdoor to win, as the legendary jockey finished fifth in his final performance in the iconic steeplechase.
Instead, it was Leighton Aspell who finished as the winning jockey, in the process becoming the first man to win back-to-back Grand Nationals since Brian Fletcher rode Red Rum to victory in 1973 and 1974.
