Manufacturers look to export
RESEARCH released today indicates that the UK’s manufacturers are planning to export to new markets by 2016, and hope to take new products with them.
According to manufacturing group EEF and Natwest bank, 71 per cent of firms in the sector expect to innovate, enabling them to export into new emerging markets within the next three years. Two thirds of the respondents also work alongside research institutions.
Similarly, last week a report by EY projected that manufacturers in the Midlands would see a solid boost to goods exports over the next five years, with annual growth of 8.1 per cent and 6.1 per cent for the West and East Midlands respectively.
