Madoff’s goods go on sale
FRAUDSTER Bernie Madoff’s extravagant lifestyle was further exposed yesterday, as details of his seized personal items were unveiled, including 16 Rolex watches.
Over 30 handbags, a personalised Mets jacket and Post-it notes will all be up for grabs in an auction on Saturday, in a state-run sale which has been put together to raise at least $500,000 (£275,000) for those hit by his Ponzi scheme.
One of the watches has been estimated as being worth $87,500, with the total value of all of the watches being gauged at around $500,000. One bracelet, made of diamonds and emeralds, could fetch $23,400.
The baseball jacket, which has “Madoff” stitched on the back, is expected to raise $500-$750, according to Gaston & Sheehan Auctioneers, who are handling the auction.
Buyers can also snap up a wooden heron sculpture for around $25.
