The Lord Mayor brings Twelfth Night back to Middle Temple
WEALTH management firm Saunderson House managed to bag the best seat in the hall last night at the Lord Mayor’s Fund Shakespeare charity dinner in Middle Temple Hall. The firm was sitting at “Twelfth Night Table” – most apt considering Middle Temple is thought to be the place that particular Shakespeare number was first performed.
Saunderson House sponsored the evening, an (early) celebration of the scribe’s 450th birthday, sending along investment director Chris Sexton, director Tony Clarke and marketing director Beverly Landais.
“It’s an interesting location for the 450th birthday event, all good fun and it’s nice for us to give something back,” said Landais.
The attendees were treated to performances from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama as well as some light punnery from the Lord Mayor herself: “Thank you for joining this wonderful Shakespear-ience!” she cooed. What would the wordsmith himself have made of that?
■ PERHAPS EasyJet’s Carolyn McCall should take a leaf out of rival Michael O’Leary’s book and revisit her airline’s customer service. London-based soprano Sarah Gabriel was forced to don her full-length evening gown before boarding a flight in Toulouse when EasyJet staff wouldn’t let her take her dress on-board as an extra. “This is what happened when @easyJet wouldn’t let me take my concert dress bag as an extra piece of cabin baggage,” she tweeted, with this picture. “We have limited space in the cabin,” tweeted the easyJet social media whizzes. Not enough room for a dress? It’s certainly one way Toulouse against your rivals, eh? Arf arf.
