London flooding risk: Riverside locations including Bankside, ExCel London, Putney, Chiswick and Teddington warned of risk Thames could breach its banks
Parts of London both east and west along the River Thames have been warned there is a risk of flooding in the next few days because of high tides.
Water levels are higher than usual for this time of year, prompting the Environment Agency to issue a flood alert along the riverside from the Thames Barrier in the east to Putney in the west. It also warns that Chiswick, Twickenham and Teddington could also be affected by flooding.
Already this week some parts of London have been affected by the river burst its banks, affecting areas including Greenwich. The Thames Barrier was raised for the first time this week as Storm Imogen brought heavy rain and winds.
Flows are expected to remain high for the next three days and could breach their banks yet again, the Environment Agency warned.
The government body has said areas at specific risk include Custom House (EC3R) by ExCel London, Narrow Street (E14), Mayflower and Angel pubs (SE16), Royal Naval College riverfront, the Almshouse Slipway at Crane Street (SE10), Bankside by the Tate Modern (SE1), and Three Mill Island (E3) in the east.
In the west, they are Putney Embankment (SW15), Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green (W4), Thames Bank at Mortlake (SW14), Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane (TW9), Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham, and the Towpath below Teddington Lock.
