Lloyds Bank: More Brits have got spare cash in their pocket
Brits are feeling more confident about the amount they can save, according to new survey figures published this morning.
A survey of 6,210 people from Lloyds Bank showed 20 per cent of them were confident about saving more money over the next 12 months. The figures, which were collected over the three months to September, show a rise in savers’ optimism from the three months to June, when only 17 per cent said they were likely to save more over the next year.
Meanwhile, the percentage of people who said they were unable to save over the past 12 months decreased to 27 per cent from 30 per cent.
“It is encouraging to see improved sentiment towards saving, with current levels of saving and expectations of future ability to save both showing promising improvements as this year has progressed,” said Philip Robinson, savings director for Lloyds Bank.
“It is often suggested that as economic data improves, so does spending, but this latest data indicates the same can be said for saving.”
