Kurt Geiger moves to boost footprint in overseas market
DESIGNER shoe company Kurt Geiger yesterday announced that it would be opening 32 branches opening across Russia, Turkey and Malaysia over the next five years.
The move will mean more than double the current number of international branches across Europe and the Middle East.
Kurt Geiger has signed a partnership deal with Fashion Galaxy Group which will see at least 20 new stores opening across Russia.
This year two stores will open in Moscow’s retail centres, Gum shopping centre on Red Square and the Atrium shopping centre.
Kurt Geiger chief executive Neil Clifford said: “The announcement underlines the growing international demand for designer footwear and the strength of commitment that Kurt Geiger has made to expanding our global presence.
“We see opportunity for a foothold in every fashion market around the world to cater for the international fashionistas.”
The new shops will follow the layout of the flagship store in Covent Garden – which has pulled in customers from across the globe.
Fashion Galaxy, headed by Maxim Ignatiev, is the exclusive distributor for premium fashion brands across Russia and the CIS including Reebok, UGG Australia and Repetto Paris.
In Turkey The Demsa Group is to open at least 10 Kurt Geiger stores across Turkey over the next five years.
IT is the leading Turkish representative of international brands including Harvey Nichols and D&G.
