Kamal quits ICC president role following tiff over trophy snub
Bangladeshi politician Mustafa Kamal resigned as president of the International Cricket Council yesterday, citing the “unlawful” behaviour of the governing body.
Kamal claimed the decision to leave his post came as a result of being denied the right to award the World Cup trophy to winners Australia following their defeat of New Zealand in Sunday’s final. The trophy was presented by Indian ICC chairman Narayanaswami Srinivasan.
“The main reason for my resignation is that I can’t work with those who can act unconstitutionally and unlawfully,” said Kamal. “My rights were dishonoured.
“After I go back home, I will let the whole world know what’s happening in the ICC. I will let the whole world know about those guys who are doing these mischievous things.”
