Jackson sends Norwich back to Premier League
NORWICH CITY are back in the Premier League after Simeon Jackson’s goal secured a 1-0 win at Portsmouth and back-to-back promotions.
The Canaries return to the top flight after a six-year absence and 21 months on from losing the first game of last season in League One 7-1 at Carrow Road against Colchester.
“I think it’s unbelievable what’s happened here in the last two years,” said Norwich manager Paul Lambert. “It’s a miracle, that’s what it is.
“I never thought this was going to happen. To come from League One and to do it back-to-back, honestly it’s a miracle that it’s happened.”
Norwich’s win at Fratton Park means Cardiff, beaten 3-0 by Middlesbrough yesterday, must now settle for a place in the play-offs.
Meanwhile, Southampton secured promotion to the Championship with a 3-1 win at Plymouth which condemned Argyle to League Two.
