Inchcape says UK customers are still investing in high-end cars
CAR dealer Inchcape yesterday said like-for-like revenues rose 1.4 per cent in the first quarter of the year, with a patchy performance in Europe and Asia offset by strong sales in Britain, particularly for luxury cars.
Inchcape said it was outperforming the industry in the UK, with “solid” used car margins and high-end vehicle sales helping push revenues up 4.9 per cent.
The firm expects its emerging markets business to keep expanding, following 19.5 per cent revenue growth in the quarter.
“We have had a good start to the year. The demand for premium and luxury vehicles was ahead of expectations in the UK,” said chief executive Andre Lacroix in a statement.
