HSBC customers not getting paid after IT failure
HSBC customers face payday woes today, after an IT glitch at the bank has left thousands without their salaries just ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
It's unclear exactly what problems it's experiencing, but following a barrage of complaints from customers noticing that their paycheques were missing, the bank confirmed on Twitter that it was experiencing an “issue affecting BACS payments for some HSBC customers”.
Thousands of customers are thought to have been affected by the IT failure, and HSBC added:
We are aware that some customers have not received expected credits today. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
HSBC customers have taken to Twitter, with many concerned about whether their salaries would arrive before the bank holiday weekend.
Sod it! Bang goes my debauched bank holiday weekend. Suspect @HSBC_UK_Help will expect us to just lump it https://t.co/mrwPhFdes0

City A.M. has been in touch with HSBC but the bank couldn't immediately specify how many customers were affected, nor how long it will take to fix the problem.
Further updates will be posted on the bank's Twitter account.
