Hailo racks up three million London trips
TAXI app network Hailo announced yesterday that London passengers using its service have racked up over 3m journeys around the capital.
Sir Richard Branson, one of Hailo’s financial backers, praised the announcement and said: “Hailo has revitalised London’s famous taxi scene with cutting edge technology. A Londoner now gets into a Hailo taxi every seven seconds which is an incredible achievement for a company which is less than two years old.”
Branson predicted that the number of UK and worldwide registered drivers on the service would double within a year due to the rapid growth of the smartphone app.
“Hailo’s great success has been driving more business for thousands of licensed taxi drivers by ensuring that passengers get around town safely and efficiently,” said Brandon.
“It’s already in New York, Dublin and London and looking forward to Hailo rolling out around the world over the next few months.”
Over half of all black cab drivers in London – some 13,000 – have signed up to Hailo since it launched in November 2011.
Last month Hailo launched in Osaka, Japan, bringing the number of cities served by the service up to 13 worldwide.
The service has racked up more than 7.5m passengers around the world wide since its launch.
Founded by three London black cab drivers, Hailo is backed by Wellington Partners and Atomico Ventures, the investors in Spotify and founder of Skype as well as Facebook backer Accel Partners.
