German inflation accelerates slightly in December
German inflation accelerated marginally in December, increasing 1.4 per cent from a year earlier, according to a flash estimate released by the national statistics agency.
Europe's largest economy is, however, still falling short of the European Central Bank's target of two per cent inflation, while other countries in the euro area continue to struggle with slowing inflations.
In the month of December, inflation increased 0.4 per cent, after a 0.2 per cent rise in November and exceeding expectations of 0.3 per cent.
At the last reading (November), CPI was 1.3 per cent annually.
