French Connection pins hopes on new collection as sales recover
FRENCH Connection yesterday said its new autumn collection had been well-received by shoppers ahead of the key Christmas trading period as the fashion retailer posted a marked improvement in sales.
Like-for-like sales for the third quarter to 20 November rose 2.1 per cent compared with a 4.5 per cent drop seen in the first six months of the year.
Founder and chief executive Stephen Marks has been battling to reverse losses at the group and hired three new heads of finance, design and marketing earlier this year to lead the effort.
It is pinning its hopes on its autumn collection, the first range produced by the new design team and said the reaction so far had been “encouraging”.
“We have also seen a growing impact from the operational improvements that have been implemented,” the group said.
