Firefighters battle blaze at Tesla factory in Fremont, California
Firefighters have extinguished a blaze at the Tesla Motors factory in Fremont, California, today. There were no injuries and no damage was done to Tesla's production line as a result of the fire.
A spokesperson for the tech company said: "There was a small fire this morning in an air handling unit in the ceiling of the north end of the factory. No one was harmed, there was no damage to the production line. Our onsite safety team was able to extinguish the fire quickly."
Earlier this month, one of the company's cars – a 2014 Tesla Model S – caught fire while charging up at a supercharger station. The car was empty when the fire occurred.
The electric car maker later said the fire had not been caused by the supercharger station, but rather by a fault in the car itself.
Tesla, which is owned by Elon Musk, will report its results next month. Shares in the company are down by 1.6 per cent today.
