Finance boss Anthony Constantinou jailed for 12 months for sexual assaults
A finance boss whose company's atmosphere was likened to The Wolf of Wall Street has been jailed for 12 months today for two counts of sexual assault.
Anthony Constantinou, aged 35 and formerly the boss of foreign exchange trading firm CWM, was found guilty of sexually assaulting two women earlier this year.
The court was told that, in October 2014, he pushed one woman against a divider in the reception area of his firm’s Heron Tower headquarters in the Square Mile and kissed her against her will at a party.
In February 2015, he force-fed his other victim hot wasabi paste, before following her out of a meeting room, forcing her against a partition and kissing her. The victim compared the behaviour to something from the Leonardo DiCaprio film, The Wolf of Wall Street.
"Each of these assaults represented an extremely unpleasant ordeal for the victims and we hope that today's verdict can go some small way to offering them a sense that justice has been served," said detective inspector Anna Rice from the City of London Police's Public Protection Unit.
"Constantinou clearly thought that his demeaning, intimidating behaviour was acceptable and today's sentence has shown this is simply not the case."
At his trial at the Old Bailey, Constantinou was also cleared of one further count of sexual assault. The jury also could not reach a decision on a further three charges and the prosecution has said it will not to seek a retrial.
Anthony is the son of Aristos Constantinou, a businessman and the victim of the unsolved "Silver Bullet murder", which took place on New Year's Day 1985.
